Hillenbrand’s work includes over 80 pictures books for young readers, and the exhibit features original illustrations from many of those books. In addition to his own self-illustrated titles, he has also illustrated the works of writers and retellers including Verna Aardema, Judy Sierra, Margery Cuyler, Judith St. George, Phyllis Root, Jane Yolen, Karma Wilson and Jane Hillenbrand.

“With over 80 books to his name, Will Hillenbrand's talent as an artist and storyteller has been delighting readers for years. Will's exhibit showcases his continued mastery of a huge range of skills, with physical media like watercolor and pencil to his more recent digital illustrations. From the soft, warm palette of Traveling to Tondo and the gorgeous oil pastels in The House That Drac Built, to the cozy and charming yet spooky A Voice in the Hollow, this exhibit shows the true depth and breadth of a master of children's bookmaking,” said Karlie Herndon, curator of the de Grummond Collection.

The Book Art of Will Hillenbrand will be on display through the end of June and is available to view upon request. To set up a weekday viewing, email or stop by the Reading Room located on the third floor of McCain Library and Archives between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
