Mississippi Digital Library Recognized Among Family Tree Magazine's Best Genealogy Websites

The Mississippi Digital Library (MDL) has been recognized by Family Tree Magazine as one of the 75 Best State Genealogy Websites of 2026. The annual list highlights outstanding online resources for family history research across the United States, recognizing one of the most valuable genealogy websites in each state and territory.

Made up of more than 60 institutions, MDL is Mississippi's collaborative digital library. Its mission is to provide an online space where users can search and explore the state's rich cultural and historical resources held by libraries, archives, museums, and other repositories across Mississippi. MDL also works with partner institutions to build sustainable, high-quality digital collections and make those materials broadly accessible.

For more than 15 years, Family Tree Magazine has compiled the list by identifying websites that provide meaningful resources for genealogists and family historians. MDL was selected as Mississippi's featured resource for its extensive digital collections and its value in supporting family history and genealogical research.

Published annually, the 75 Best State Genealogy Websites guide helps readers discover trusted online records, archives, and research tools for U.S.-based genealogy. The 2026 recognition follows previous inclusion on the magazine in 2020 and 2022, highlighting MDL’s continued value as an important resource for researchers exploring Mississippi’s history and family connections.
