Student Workers

Welcome to the Student Worker Information page of Bibliographic Services. Students interested in working for Bibliographic Services can find information here about the type of work and how to apply. Bibliographic Services librarians and staff have partnered with student workers for many years, and we support Southern Miss students in their scholastic goals for graduation and career development.

Part-time student workers are an important part of the physical processing area of Bibliographic Services. Mandatory requirements for employment are attention to detail and accuracy. Students meeting these requirements who are interested in employment should complete a Student Assistant Application at the Library Administration Office (Cook Library, room 202). View the Job Description for a student worker.

Full-time department staff are responsible for hiring, training, and supervising student workers in the physical processing of new materials and the mending and binding of book/non-book formats.

The work accomplished in Bibliographic Services has a direct link to findability of information resources for students, faculty members, and other researchers. We take seriously the commitment to high quality and accuracy in our work. Here is what we expect from students who work with us in Bibliographic Services.
