In Sickness and in Health: the History of Nursing in Mississippi

Nursing has always been crucial to the sickness and health of the community, yet the development of nursing as a profession is much more recent than one might think.

Using materials found in the collections at McCain Library & Archives, this exhibit showcases the history of nursing in Mississippi. Highlights include a student nurse's uniform from the 1950s, excerpts from a Civil War nurse's diary, and photographs from the early 20th century.

The exhibit will be available June 12 - September 5, 2007, from 8:00-5:00 Monday through Friday on the 3rd floor of McCain Library.
