The series is titled “Light Up Your Life – READ!” with a light bulb, smiley face between the words light and up. They all have the question “What turns YOU on?” at the top with the following answers:

  1. Science Fiction? Following man’s adventures into outer space, people have become fascinated with the idea of life on other planets, interplanetary travel, and of course, UFOs. It makes thrilling – sometimes chilling – reading! This poster has an African American teenage boy readying Invaders from Galaxy X, several starships, planets, and a “Luke Skywalker” type image.
  2. Wheels? Just about any aspect of automobiles and cycles is covered by magazines, and you’re sure to enjoy some of the books about cars that are available. This poster has the head of a boy with sunglasses thinking of a Corvette, Rolls Royce, Indy Race Car, Chevy Van, DeLorean, and a motorcycle.
  3. Self-Improvement? No matter what you’re into, some expert can give you good information and advice on the best way to do it. Check your library for books and articles on how to do it better. This poster has a lady practicing yoga, a lady making a pizza from scratch, a man speaking in front of a mirror and a man jogging.
  4. Star-Struck? Fan magazines about show-business abound on every news stand, but many fascinating novels and biographies have been written. And you’ll want to read the entertainment section of your newspaper to get the latest on  your favorites. This poster has a teenage girl looking at magazines thinking of Barbara Streisand, Burt Reynolds, John Denver and Linda Ronstadt.
  5. Romance? Whether it’s an all-time favorite like ‘Gone with the Wind’, an old classic or the latest best-seller, romantic novels are always popular. Find a good one and see why. This poster has a young woman reading Gone with the Wind and thinking of the actors who portrayed Rhett Butler and Scarlet O’Hara.
  6. Sports? All good sports fans follow their teams in the daily newspapers. There are magazines and books galore devoted to every type of sport, plus the Guinness Book of Records. Dig in! This poster has a young man and woman sitting outside eating. The man is reading the Guinness Book of Records and quizzing the woman on what ball-player has stolen the most bases?
  7. Mysteries? You’re in luck! Some of the tip writers in literature have been mystery writers, including such masters as A. Conan Doyle and Edgar Allan Poe. Every best-seller list includes mystery stories because almost everybody enjoys them. You will, too. This poster has a young man reading a Sherlock Holmes novel that has Sherlock with a dog on a leash with Watson following.
