Form of Material (Letters, Minutes, etc.):

1.  Two handwritten letters to Byron De La Beckwith, Jr., from his father, Byron De La Beckwith, Sr.  The letters were written from the Mississippi State Hospital in Whitfield, Mississippi, where Beckwith, Sr. was confined for observation in 1963, in connection with his trial for the murder of civil rights activist Medgar Evers.  The letters are dated July 29 and August 3, 1963, and they discuss Beckwith's situation and his concern for his son's future.  After three trials, Beckwith was finally convicted of the murder in 1994.  He died January 21, 2001, while serving a life sentence.

2.  A letter from Mississippi State Hospital to Mrs. Mary Williams Beckwith, wife of Byron De La Beckwith, Sr.  The letter, dated July 29, 1963, deals with the hospital's policy regarding reimbursement for its services.

3.  A two-page document titled "A Delta Discussion, Issue VII."  The undated document, which was purportedly generated by the Ku Klux Klan, is addressed to Citizens of Greenwood (Mississippi) and Surrounding Area, and it discusses racial issues.
