How do I find media (audiovisuals)?
Media is a broad term that includes videorecordings on DVD or VHS; audio recordings on cassette, CD, or LP; slides and other formats.
Use the Libraries' Classic Catalog to find media in University Libraries. Go to the Basic Search screen, choose Media Collection from the drop-down menu, and then enter search terms (e.g., author, title, or subject).
The Libraries use genre terms for many of our films, in addition to subject terms. The following list of terms may be helpful in finding media:
- Feature films
- Comedy films (or try other genres, such as Action and adventure, Horror, or Musical)
- Documentary films
- Biographical films
- Film adaptations
- Television programs
You can also use the Advanced Keyword Search, limit the Material Type to Visual media or Spoken media, and then enter search terms (e.g., author, title, or subject).
In both Cook Library and Gulf Coast Library, the media collection is located on the 2nd floor.
