How do I find an item in the Historical Manuscript and University Archives Collections?

The Manuscripts and Archives section of USM Special Collections holds more than 10,000 cubic feet of historical manuscripts, photographs, and University archives, specializing in the Civil Rights Movement, the timber and railroad industries in Mississippi, the Civil War, USM university records, and other original materials associated with Mississippi history and culture. Among its holdings are the papers of Theodore G. Bilbo, William Colmer, Will D. Campbell, Victoria Gray Adams, and the Herbert Randall Freedom Summer Photographs.

Finding aids to these collections may be found through the Library Catalog or through the Archives Web site. Some of the materials related to civil rights are also available online. These may be accessed through links in the finding aids, through the library catalog's "Digital Collections" link or through the Civil Rights in Mississippi Digital Archive.

For questions about these collections, contact Steve Haller at Stephen.Haller@usm.edu or 601.266.4117.
