What is the Funding Information Network?
The Gulf Coast Library at the Long Beach Campus is a Funding Information Network partner of the Foundation Center. The Foundation Center’s mission is to gather, analyze, and disseminate information about grants and philanthropic activities to organizations and individuals looking for grants.
As a member of this nationwide network of libraries, community foundations, and other nonprofit organizations, Gulf Coast Library offers visitors free public onsite access to grantmaker directories, books on fundraising and nonprofit management, plus access to the Foundation Centers electronic databases, the Foundation Directory Online, Foundation Grants to Individuals Online and Foundation Maps. These databases contain information on more than 92,000 grantmakers across the United States.
Where can the Foundation Center be accessed?
A Foundation Center workstation is located on the second floor of the Gulf Coast Library on the Gulf Park campus. A print collection of books on the Foundation Center resources and on grant seeking is located at the workstation as well as computers specifically designated for grant research. If these computers are in use, visitors may access the Foundation Center resources from any public computer in the Gulf Coast Library with the following links:
A database of more than 140,000 grantmakers, updated weekly. Grantmaker profiles include independent foundations, company-sponsored foundations, operating foundations, corporate giving programs, public charities, and non-U.S. foundations.
Foundation Grants to Individuals Online
A database of nearly 10,000 foundations that support individuals with grants, scholarships, fellowships, and other forms of individual funding.
A tool that visualizes funder, recipient, and grant data through a variety of filters with list and map views. The data set includes foundation funding from 2006 to the present, includes profiles for about 18,000 foundations worldwide, and is updated weekly.
