Dissertations and ThesesFinding Dissertations:To find dissertations published in North America, connect to Proquest's Dissertations and Theses (D&T). D & T is an online database containing citations for dissertations from 1861 to the present. It includes abstracts of dissertations written since 1980, 24-page previews of dissertations 1980-present, and full-text access to almost all available dissertations (1980-present). If, for whatever reason, the full-text of a dissertation is not available, it can also be purchased online for approximately $35 or borrowed for 3 weeks (usually free) through USM Libraries' Interlibrary Loan service. Finding USM Dissertations or Theses:Most USM Dissertations (from 1980 to last year) can be accessed through the database Proquest's Dissertations and Theses (D&T). In D & T, locate the text / search box labeled "school" and type University of Southern Mississippi in the provided search box (see fig. 1). Alternately, you may use the Browse feature to locate a school name and allow the Proquest system to insert the school name into the school text / search box. Fig. 1
To find other USM dissertations, use the USM Libraries online catalog. In the catalog, select Advanced Search. Type your keywords in the search box and then scroll down the page and select Theses/Dissertations to limit your search to dissertations or theses. |
