University Libraries Now Scheduling Library Instruction Sessions

News item published on: 2019-01-16 10:24:00

University Libraries invites Southern Miss course instructors to schedule library instruction sessions for their classes. Instructors can schedule a librarian to visit their classroom, meet with them in a library classroom, or online.

The librarian will provide your students with accurate and up-to-date information about library resources and services. Librarians will teach your students how to effectively use the Libraries’ search tools to find appropriate sources for academic work. A library visit can also help alleviate anxiety students may feel about using the library.

To invite a librarian to provide a guest lecture, submit the instruction request form. You will be asked to provide the time of your class along with two preferred dates. At least one week’s advance notice is appreciated. The librarian assigned to teach your class can work with you to design a lesson tailored to meet the needs of a specific assignment or can simply provide a generalized introduction to library resources and services.

University Libraries looks forward to working with you and your students in support of student success. For additional information, contact the head of public services Tisha Zelner at 601.266.6170 or tisha.zelner@usm.edu.
