University Libraries is hosting an Edible Book Festival in the Cook Library Learning Commons Gallery on Friday, Mar. 31 at 10 a.m.

Since its inception in 1999, the International Edible Book Festival is held annually on or around April 1st - the birthday of Jean-Anthelme Brillat-Savarin (1755 - 1826), the French author of a witty book on food entitled Physiologie du goût. Dozens of libraries and cultural organizations around the world have held their own festivals to celebrate his work.

Festival organizers are accepting submissions from Southern Miss students, staff, faculty and members of the Hattiesburg community for the festival. Awards will be given for the Best in Show, Most Nutritious, and Most Creative. More information about the festival and examples of edible books can be found at http://libguides.lib.usm.edu/ediblebookfest and on Pinterest. If you wish to submit an entry, register online by March 27 at https://lib.usm.edu/ediblebookform.html. For questions about the festival, contact Elena Azadbakht at  or 601.266. 6424.
